Wendy Shares Her Pro Kids Story

Member since 2010 It was a new beginning for me and my family after moving homes. Living in new surroundings became very hard for me to adjust to. Not knowing anyone created a gap, and I felt uncomfortable around others, having a hard time fitting in and making friends at school. After I attended my first couple of days as a fifth grader at my new school; my mom, Blanca, and I came across a golf course and learning center, Pro Kids | The First Tee of San Diego, which was right across from my school. After hearing everything the staff had told my mom, she began to think how this program could benefit her children in different ways. She then began telling herself how they would be able to provide help in homework, learn the game of golf, how it would be a good place to keep her children off the road to no good and most importantly much support and importance their future was for them. At first, my siblings and I were very scared to begin the program after being enrolled, but then we turned into those three members that were the first to arrive and last to leave every day. Pro Kids became part of my daily life. It gave me a chance to meet new people, create memories; and it gave me the confidence to be myself no matter what. I have a bright future ahead and that I am capable of doing anything. Pro Kids became that place that felt like home; everyone was always friendly, that looked after you It gave me a chance to meet so many great people from other members to wonderful donors. Field trips that made me realize that their is so much out there to do not just for myself but for others as well. Thanks to Pro Kids I have been able to visit numerous universities and colleges. Golf is a wonderful game I was able to be introduced to, it did not only teach me the sport, but also core values that mean so much to me.
