First Tee

of San Diego

COVID-19 UPDATE AS OF JUNE 12, 2020 | FRom the desk of KARLA GOMEZ

In compliance with the city and state regulations, Pro Kids | First Tee of San Diego programming will remain closed until further notice. We are excited to announce, however, that the Colina Park Golf Course is open and tee times are available. Pro Kids members golf for free with pre-scheduled tee times!

Summer camp update: We regret to inform you that this year’s camp dates have been cancelled due to city and county regulations regarding COVID-19. As an organization we strive to bring quality programming to our families. We cannot in good conscience offer summer camps knowing that due to current regulations the quality and experience that your children would receive would not be up to our standards and values. We appreciate your continued patience and understanding during this time. We are diligently working to resume general programming, please continue to check our programs page for updates.

The following is a letter from Karla Gomez, Interim-CEO, for other updates:

First and foremost, we miss each and every one of you. With the uncertainties of COVID-19, we wanted to reach out to and let you know what Pro Kids is doing and what you can expect from us in the months to come.
We know there has been a lot of transition and uncertainty, both in the world and at Pro Kids. What is of the utmost importance, however, is for you to rest assured that we are here for you and will continue to provide service to the community in a safe and responsible manner.
We will continue meal distribution at both sites during summer months. Our Colina Park Golf Course will remain open and member families can golf for free as long as a tee time is scheduled ahead of time.
Our current workshops will come to a close this Friday, June 12. We will take a week off and resume with summer Zoom workshops beginning Monday, June 22. In the meantime, any families that would like to continue meeting one-on-one with staff can reach out directly to schedule a time. We are here for you, whether you need us for extended school help, summer resources, or simply a friendly face to chat with.
While we can’t say for certain what the next months hold, we can tell you this – Pro Kids staff members are working hard to get the campuses ready so we can welcome students back. We are transforming classrooms and offices to ensure a safe, healthy environment as well as beginning to discuss what the logistics of reopening will look like (in accordance to City, County and CDC guidelines).
This situation continues to be a fluid one with constant changes. We will do our best to communicate any new information regarding reopening our campuses for youth. We thank you for your ongoing patience and understanding as we too are anxiously awaiting answers for the next steps.
You can plan to hear an update from us next month with new details that may come about. Until then, we hope to see you on the golf course!

Both of the Pro Kids campuses will continue to offer free meals for any youth ages 18 and under. These meals are distributed daily, Monday-Friday from 11am-1pm in City Heights and 11:30am-2:30pm in Oceanside. Meals can be delivered straight to your car, or can be picked up from a Pro Kids staff member if you’re arriving on foot or by public transportation. We ask that you do your best to maintain a 6 foot distance between your family and others to protect the health of our staff and members. Food distribution locations:

4085 52nd Street, San Diego, CA 92105

Pro Kids | First Tee of San Diego, Oceanside Campus

Nine Core Values

Why is golf different from other sports?

Players learn values like honesty and responsibility by calling penalties on themselves and reporting their own score. By participating in First Tee, youth are introduced to Nine Core Values which are incorporated throughout the program.
