On August 14, Pro Kids members had the amazing opportunity to visit Gillespie Field for a behind-the-scenes tour of the airfield’s operations. Members were welcomed up to the restricted-access Air Traffic Control tower. Then, the kids headed down to the San Diego Sheriff’s Department A.S.T.R.I.A. Helicopter Hangar, where they were able to meet pilots, learn about law enforcement and rescue operations, and even sit in the helicopter cockpit! Finally, the kids participated in a fun workshop where they designed and built their own airplanes! Many thanks to Candace Covington and Soaring Eagles Outreach for this incredible day!
